Join A Gospel Choir In London

Singing gospel music in a choir is one of the greatest feelings in the world. The harmonies, style of singing, the music, the meaning, spirituality and connecting with God, the sense of community and camaraderie… you can’t get all that in many places at once, can you? So it’s obvious that we often get asked, “can I join your gospel choir?”

Well, we are a professional choir of professional singers. That means, we don’t have the community and vibe that comes from weekly rehearsals, as we don’t have weekly rehearsals! In this blog, I’m bigging up some of the amazing gospel choirs in London, many are run by people I know personally, in which you’d get the training and opportunity to sing gospel in a large format, that you’ve been looking for.

1.) London International Gospel Choir

Run by my friend Nina Rosenburger, LIGC is a the largest open gospel choir with weekly rehearsals in West and North London. You’ll have lots of performing opportunities here, they’ve even supported Take That at the O2 and will be on stage with Geoge Ezra this Summer! Find out more: https://internationalgospelchoir.uk

2.) Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir

3.) Sing Gospel

Based in Ealing, open to the community but also boasting a session choir you can join to do paid events, they have weekly rehearsals, concerts throughout the year and regularly sing at community events. Find out more: http://singgospel.co.uk 

4.) Singology

Boasting three locations - central London, Wimbledon and South Croydon and a virtual choir. Anyone can join: https://www.singologychoir.com 

5.) Harrow Community Gospel Choir

Run by the wonderful Cecelia Wickham Anderson - who runs a number of gospel choirs across the South East including Cheltenham Gospel Choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesday and they sing contemporary gospel songs and spirituals. https://harrowcommunitygospelchoir.com 

6.) St Michael’s Gospel Choir, Wandsworth

7.) Gospel Rising

Based in Selhurst, SW25 at Croydon SDA Church Hall and led by Joanne Miller, they exist to share the message of the hope in Christ. with joy, passion and a sense of community. Check out their social media: Facebook and Instagram

8.) Ealing Gospel Choir

Another one in Ealing, this choir run by the lovely Henry Tozer. They rehearse on the 2nd & 3rd Sunday afternoons of each month, 3pm-5pm at St Barnabas Church, to sing for a monthly All-Age Mass in the church (first Sunday of the month), and sing for other special events too. https://www.facebook.com/ealinggospelchoir/

The current House Gospel Choir has grown to over 150 members of all religions and backgrounds. You may have seen them perform on TV and at festivals over the last decade. 10.) London African Gospel Choir

Formed to help London’s African community promote the gospel,create a platform of excellence for African gospel singers and musicians, and popularise the African interpretations of gospel music.
